ugh.

I had every intention of telling yall about Joshua's first day of school yesterday but alas, we ended up in the ER with Zoe from 9pm - 1am. A catheter, IV blood draw & chest xray later we went home with a bottle of (drumroll) tylenol. We sure didn't have to wait long to be seen when we showed up with a 6 wk old baby with a 101.7 fever! The tests were horrible but she was a trooper & I slept better knowing that she's not gravely ill! They suspect it's just a virus 'going around' and she has a follow up with her doc at 1:45. She still had a fever this morning so just keep her in your prayers!

I'll do Joshua's first day later when he's not handing me (hitting me with) books that he wants me to read. We're going to go outside to play I think.

Here's a little something for you to look at though... more of my friend Jamie's pictures of Zoe!

(when her website is finished, it will be http://www.photographybyjamielynn.com/ )

Go to this website, click "enter site" then click on "Clients" and type in "Zoe" for the password. You'll notice that she used some of our photos for her website too! We're (almost) famous! Also, a lady who hired Jamie to take photos of hairbows/headbands she sells on the internet asked Zoe to model them for her website. In return, we get more cute photos and get to keep the hair accessories! You can be sure I'll post the website once Zoe's photos are on there!! Her stuff is super cute!

a day off

Technically, Craig & I should be sleeping today! We won't have another chance until Columbus Day!! Ahhh, if only this were true (both the mentally superior part, and the only sleeping on national holidays part) I'd get so much more done!! Perhaps ye olde Academy should add this to their training objectives

I stole this from RM's bloggy

Joshua's first 'real' owwie. He tripped and fell in the driveway, but didn't cry or anything. Consequently, we didn't realize that it looked like this until later. What a little tough guy!
See how happy he is (saying 'owwie')? He's real proud of it! Later, Craig took him in the bathroom & they made bubbles on it with the hydrogen peroxide. He thought that was fun too Here's Zoe and her crazy hair and sweet little grin. Her eyes were open until the red-eye reduction thing on my camera blinked.
she still has blue eyes. They're getting lighter & brighter
And here are my delicious pillows. Two of them are the same on both sides. The other two are one side patterned, one side red.

Slim pickings

I'm eating an apple for dessert. Now that's sad, I don't care who you are. That's what I get for eating cookies for breakfast.

Here are some pictures & videos.

Joshua with his pants hiked way up high like he likes them... who'd he learn that from? Joshua loves to ride all the vehicles in the mall. We don't put quarters in and we figure it's only a matter of time before he figures out that there's more fun to be had than just turning the steering wheels.
This thing's broken... why isn't it moving or lighting up??!!
Sooooo dirty. Joshua was out playing in the sandbox, dumping sand all over himself and everything else.

Here's a video of Joshua about to get his shake (fruit smoothie - it has strawberries, blueberries, apple, banana, oatmeal, broccoli, cottage cheese, yogurt, & protein powder in it) for breakfast. He's been doing a great job keeping all his beverages in the kitchen too.

Joshua strikes up a deal with Craig to go down the slide not one, but 2 more times... he's trying to show two fingers

Queen of Craigsland

The great thing about oatmeal cookies (like there's only one) is that, since they're oatmeal, they count as breakfast! And they're oh-so-good with coffee!!

So not only did I make Craig cookies, but I also made him (and moi) breakfast. Man, I really am the best wife in the land. Craigsland, that is :)

Zoe and I slept great last night (Craig and Joshua always sleep great). We shut Zoe in the closet - don't call the police, it's a big closet - so that I could only hear her if she was really REALLY serious about needing something. She went from 6:30pm - 3:30am without eating. Too bad 6:30pm is not my bedtime! Here's a picture of the closet, so you don't think I'm mean. This is actually half the closet (and not our stuff either)

Craig and I are sitting on the couch, eating our cookies (Craig's are already gone - if I was a really really great wife, I'd share mine), and Joshua & Zoe are both asleep. Don't hate me because I'm having such a great morning.

C is for Cookie

I'm pleased to report that Craig kept his fists to himself last night. He's usually very gentle for several nights after an 'incident' but then he falls off the wagon again. We'll see how long it lasts. Oh, and it helps that we sometimes put a pillow between us... for my protection.

So, does anyone else do this, or is it just me... do you check your blog as often as you check other people's, just in case someone posted something interesting on your blog while you weren't looking or something? I don't know why I do it (other than that I like to look at the pictures of Joshua & Zoe), but I just can't stop!

Well, Craig spent the day pressure washing the fence in preparation for staining/sealing it. Consequently, it was me, Joshua & Zoe hanging out inside. Joshua & I finished sewing the new pillow covers while Zoe was napping (no pictures yet, I have to iron them & put them on). Then, since I am the best wife in the land, I made Craig a delicious batch of oatmeal cookies with dark chocolate chocolate chips in them. He was out there from 9am-ish until around 4. He deserved those cookies! Really, that's the only reason I made them... I didn't make them for me or anything, because I'm out of twizzlers, I promise. Then, we had some equally delicious (but in a different way) pork tenderloin. Thanks Rachael Ray!

1/2 T olive oil, 3/4 t salt, 1/8 t pepper, 1/2 t sage, 1 clove garlic (use garlic press). Mix together. Rub all over 1 lb tenderloin. Roast @ 500 for 8 min on each side, let stand 5 min. Gobble up.

Then, we had some more cookies.

My big black eye - tales of an abusive sleeper

OK, now that I have your attention... I don't really have a black eye, but I thought I was going to at 2am when Craig punched me in the face. No, I'm not exaggerating, he really punched me - hard - barely missing my nose, my eye, and Zoe's head, he got my square in the zygomatic arch (cheekbone). He has NO recollection of this (not that I expected him to, since my "owww, Craig!!" got no response). What happened was that I was sitting up nursing Zoe and apparently, in sitting up, I shifted the sheet in such a way that Craig needed to very vigorously pull it back over himself. Fortunately, I caught his fist before he could deliver another blow... I always have my guard up after having been elbowed in the forehead and hit in the face numerous times, kneed in the shin (that was the most painful), and (this is my favorite) caught Craig trying to steal the pillow out from under my head because he had knocked his on the floor. Of course it's not funny at the time, but we always chuckle about it later. Hope you did too... on to the pictures:

Joshua's really enjoying whatever that is...

Zoe loves looking at Craig. He gets lots of smiles from her.

her hair is sticking up because I had had a bow in it. actually, it just sticks up all the time.

It's so cute when her eyes get crossed

I think she was flexing her big baby muscles

my beautiful bench (I covered the wood so that we can set stuff on it and not scratch it up)
the couch decor - before and after. I still have 5 more pillows to cover (you guessed it, I'll probably take pictures and post them when I'm done)
Zoe holding her head up!

my canteloupe. Craig 'picked' it by accident when he moved it to mow, so I had to eat it today. It was delish
mmm, peppers
One pumpkin for Joshua and one for Zoe! I'm going to dry/roast the seeds. Any other suggestions for what to do with pumpkins? (please, don't say carve them, I figured that out all by myself)
my tomato harvest. The big ones have been splitting on top but I got some expert advice from Nancy and ope I can revive them quickly

well, that's all she wrote (literally). I'd better go to bed before I grab another handful of twizzlers!
