Zoe saying the Pledge of Allegiance

Zoe said "Mommy, please say I Pledge Allegiance" so I got her started and she finished the rest. The first time was better but of course I didn't have the camera ready! By the third time, she was getting impatient (and so was Joshua, because she kept getting the last line wrong), but still pretty impressive for a 2 year old (ok, 28 months)

photo backlog

I haven't blogged since before Craig got back from overseas. We have nearly returned to our normal 2 parent routine so I can start adding my leisure activities back into the mix, bit by bit. So... I have a lot of pictures to catch up on! I just did Joshua's birthday. There are still pictures from our trip to the farm & halloween, plus other random stuff. Had I not forgotten my camera when we went to Memphis, I'd be even more behind!!!

Joshua's first night in his real bed! Got this bed w/ drawers for $25 at a yard sale, otherwise he would have been in a toddler bed until he didn't fit anymore! Daddy had to make it into a tent to entice him. This was several weeks ago, now he's an old pro at itsurrounded by his BFFs
Zoe & Daddy hanging in Daddy's truck. Awww.
Eating ice cream in my car. I was scared that it would be a horrific mess when I got home, but no one got a drop on anything other than their faces!

Joshua's 4th Birthday Party

We had an early birthday party for Joshua's 4th birthday. I asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday, and he said chuck e cheese. For gifts, he requested transformers, a nerf gun (he had seen one at a friend's party) and light up shoes. When I asked what cake he wanted, he asked for red spiderman cake. He got all of the above - isn't it nice to be 4!! He had a great time with friends, got to 'spend' some chuck e cheese tickets & had a wonderful birthday with Daddy home, and Ma & Pa here to celebrate with him!!

There's that nerf gun. Daddy has already given him several lessons in gun safety.
He was very excited about Gracie's present of little CAT trucks & machines!
We started at 10am so we could have the place all to ourselves for as long as possible. We got out of there just in time!!
a high 5 from Chuck himself. Unfortunately my camera was doing something strange.

what's wrong with this picture?

Zoe was pretty fearless about this

It's back...

Stomach Bug round 2... just got Joshua & I so far. He's been laying like this for 2 hours. Mine's not so bad. Hopefully it's gone soon & Zoe doesn't get it again!

we've got some pies to make...

We went to one of the many local pumpkin patches today. Here's photographic evidence that we left the house and had some fun. Zoe picked out her usual outfit of John Deere boots & princess shirt, and Joshua had to have a shirt with a pocket. Who knows why. I rocked my workout clothes all day.Joshua changed into his overalls...
Then Zoe took a turn. This is one of the sweetest pictures ever of her sweet little face. Can you see her little hands under her chin. Say it with me... "awww"

they each got to pick out a gourd.
we went home with a white one, a big orange one, a butternut squash, and some gourds. I'm going to be busy! They'll decorate the front porch until I'm ready to use them.

Going to the zoo zoo zoo

After several days cooped up in the house, we made a break for it and went to the zoo & whole foods in Nashville. It was a great time, and I'm sure we'll be back soon. I can't believe we've been here for almost 4 years and we've never been to whole foods before. When I asked Joshua what his favorite part of the day was, he said it was going to whole foods. And not because he got graham cracker ice cream that, dare I say it, was way better than cold stone.

feeding him leaves
87 degrees in October. I am NOT complaining.
Zoe followed him around with leaves for 5 minutes saying "here, goat". He finally got full and stopped taking them, otherwise she might have done it all day.

whoever thought up this place was a genius! Mommies & Daddies sit on cushy benches while kiddos wear themselves out. Joshua was a little upset that he didn't get to go on the big kids playground. Maybe next time.
See. He's having no fun at all. Poor guy.
Zoe stopped to refuel. Delilah, does this look familiar?
Joshua had brought quarters from his piggy bank to ride the carousel. He also wanted to rent a stroller instead of bring one. I told him he could use his quarters however he wanted, but he didn't have enough quarters to do both... Joshua's first lesson in 'opportunity cost'. The young jedi chose wisely
the first time on, he couldn't decide on an animal so he sat there & pouted. Fortunately, we brought enough quarters for 2 rides (& the nice attendant let Zoe on for free)Watch out, Whole Foods. Here they come!Graham cracker gelato. Satisfied customers.Joshua picked it because it had little teddy grahams on top. On another note - look at that hippie hair!!
I would say that this was the perfect end to a {nearly} perfect day, but we went to chick fil A after this, so that made it even better! My boys will be getting some haircuts this weekend! YAY!

Clean Up, Aisle Zoe

this is what happens when I get too engrossed in facebook.
what is it, you might ask... I think it was paprika, celery seed & coriander. Have I mentioned that I love my dustbuster & swiffer wetjet? Well I do.
